Our Wild Neighbors
At Long Meadow Ranch we enjoy a large population of wildlife. As our sustainable farming approach has taken hold, we are blessed with growing flocks of wild turkeys, coveys of quail, mating pairs of red-tailed hawks, and other flocks of birds of many species.
Among mammals, we regularly see fox, squirrel, bobcat, skunk, raccoon, coyote, deer, and even the occasional black bear and mountain lion.
Far from being enemies, the wildlife is integral to our approach, with owls and hawks helping to control the gopher population in our vineyards, orchards, and gardens, and with other predators keeping the wildlife on our Ranch in appropriate balance.
