Here you can also purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, grass-fed beef, and flowers, as well as our wines, olive oils, vinegar, and honey.
Visitors to the Napa Valley and local residents alike will not want to miss the opportunity to enjoy the bounty from Long Meadow Ranch.
We have more than 10 acres dedicated to extraordinary fruit and vegetable production on our Rutherford Estate, a one-acre herb and flower garden on our original Mayacamas Estate, and an additional 5 to 10 acres in rotational production in fallow vineyards. And, we maintain a substanial herd of grass-fed Highland cattle, beehives, and egg-laying poultry flocks.
Our primary production farm, located in the heart of the world-famous Rutherford grape appellation, features a rich collection of vegetables - in addition to its focus on heirloom tomatoes. Developed by Chris Hall and now expertly managed by Landy Landercasper, the farm has been planted to provide a full array of fresh produce over the course of the growing season , including (among others) basil, beets, beans, chard, cucumber, eggplant, melons, strawberries, and potatoes.
Now part of the overall 90-acre Rutherford Estate, the core of our production farm is a historic 5.8-acre property, acquired in 2002, that is renowned among Napa Valley old timers for the nearly one-hundred year-old black mission fig trees that produce luscious black fruit - and especially for its melons. The property has been in vegetable production since at least the 1930s and has never been planted in wine grapes.
Not surprisingly, the farm has provided produce to many of the Napa Valley's finest restaurants, including our own restaurant, Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch, La Toque, Auberge du Soleil, Terra, Cindy's Backstreet Cafe, and even Taylor's Refresher.
In 2004, our produce farming activities were certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers.
We maintain three flocks of egg-laying poultry on our properties - featuring the beautiful Australorp, Cuckoo Maran, and Ameraucana breeds - that also enjoy a diet of leftover organic fruits and vegetables. We offer fresh, colorful eggs on every market day.
LMR Grass-fed Highland Beef is naturally tender and wonderfully flavorful. A full array of cuts (Ribeye, New York, hanger and skirt steaks; ranch hand filet; ground beef; etc.) is always available.
Our grass-fed beef is featured daily at Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch under the direction of chef Stephen Barber and has been presented by many other top chefs on the Food Network and elsewhere, including Michael Chiarello and Emeril Lagasse. Our beef was also used in the Finale episode of the 2009 Top Chef competition.
