Marelle Napa Valley Syrah is made at Long Meadow Ranch by our winemaker, Ashley Heisey. Ashley has been quietly incubating a Syrah program at our winery and we are very pleased to share her 2004 Napa Valley Syrah bottled under the her own label, "Marelle."

This wine is an exquisite example of Syrah and - in keeping with the Long Meadow Ranch style - a wonderful accompaniment to food.

The 2003 Marelle Napa Valley Syrah will be the featured January 2007 shipment of the LMR Corral Club. Only 50 cases are available.

WINEMAKER'S TASTING NOTES 2004 Marelle Napa Valley Syrah The '04 Marelle Napa Valley Syrah shows off the best of what the growing season and varietal have to offer - vibrancy, complete ripeness, concentration and depth. The color is deep, dark garnet with purples edges. The nose exudes a complex mix of dark cherry, smoky, meaty and white pepper aromas. These notes permeate the wine from start to lingering finish. On the palate, the entry is round and dark. The fruit core is dominated by perfectly ripe, but not over-ripe, black fruits. The wine has a beautiful balance of structure, volume and flavor concentration. The subtle oak influence results from aging in two year old French oak barrels. All of the enjoyable components of the wine have integrated. The tannins have softened to contribute fullness and to support the core of clean, true Syrah fruit. As a result, the Marelle '04 Syrah is ready to enjoy now and will age well for at least 24 months. - Ashley Heisey
