From St. Helena take Highway 29 going south
from the town of St. Helena. Continue on Highway 29 until you
see Whitehall Lane (next road after Zinfandel Lane). If you
have reached Rutherford you have gone too far. At the corner
of Whitehall Lane is a large yellow Bed & Breakfast called the
Ink House and a railroad crossing. Please make a right turn
onto Whitehall Lane cautiously (there is a slight curve in the
road and a railroad crossing at the turnoff.)
From Yountville take Highway 29 north through
Oakville. Continue on Highway 29 through Rutherford to Whitehall
Lane. As you approach Whitehall Lane, you will find the Franciscan
Vineyards on the right. Whitehall Lane is on the left. Please
make the left turn onto Whitehall Lane cautiously (There is
a slight curve in the road and a railroad crossing at the turnoff.
There is no left hand turn lane.)
Once on Whitehall Lane, you will proceed west
(.6 miles) until you cross a narrow stone bridge.
Turn right as indicated by the yellow arrow sign
and the center line stripe in the road (there will be a sign
indicating South Whitehall Lane straight ahead. Do not go down
South Whitehall Lane.) Continue on Whitehall Lane around the
edge of a vineyard bordered by olive trees. You will cross a
second and a third stone bridge. Bear left at the mailboxes
and continue up the winding county road until you reach the
end of the county road. Drive past the "End" sign and through
the open gate.
You will now start up a private single lane road
onto Long Meadow Ranch. Please drive slowly. There is no room
to pass and there are few turn-offs. You will pass a driveway
with a sign "1700" on your right. Continue up the private lane
until you encounter a clearing in the trees and a group of barns
on your left.
Beyond the barn turnout you will see the main
gate to the ranch on the left. The fence is white with a white
gate and "Long Meadow Ranch 1775" is on the fence post. (If
you are still on the private road and see a house on the right,
you have gone too far.) Enter through the gate and continue
up the private driveway.
To park at the winery, bear right on the driveway
and park in the parking area at the base of the hill.
Please walk up the hill to the winery.
