Long Meadow Ranch Launches eCatalog!
May 16 , 2006, Rutherford, CA
Napa Valley’s innovative Long Meadow Ranch announced today the launch of its eCatalog, a state-of-the-art online version of its recently published print catalog. The LMR eCatalog employs technology made available through Scene7, a company - based in Novato, California - which is widely considered the market leader in rich media for the web.
The LMR eCatalog follows the recently launched 24-page full-color catalog from LMR which features the full array of products from the ranch and is titled, Wine, Food, and Farm Adventures Spring 2006. This new catalog highlights chefs' pairings of wines and foods as well as favorite recipes.
"We felt that a catalog would help communicate the vision we have for Long Meadow Ranch by providing an appropriate feel and context - something closer to a visit to our special place. So, our catalog features great photos and has the tactile feeling of recycled kraft paper," said co-owner Ted Hall. "The true power of the eCatalog is that it can provide a very similar experience for a consumer - despite being an online environment," he added.
"We were attracted to the natural look and feel of the online catalog that could be created with Scene7's technology. You can actually turn the pages as if you are reading a paper version," said Laddie Hall. "If you want to see something more closely you can simply zoom in. Want to buy something you like? Just click on the photo or its description. It's truly amazing," she concluded.
Long Meadow Ranch's print catalog was sent to every member of the LMR mailing list and to buyers of fine wines and foods across the country that were identified and shared by a handful of ultra high-quality food producers. A second edition of the print catalog is planned for the Fall, which will coincide with the release of the 2003 Long Meadow Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon. The Fall catalog will also feature several as-yet-unannounced new products.
"This launch of the eCatalog is yet another component of our forward-looking strategy which was accelerated by the devastating warehouse fire last fall that destroyed our entire bottled wine inventory from vintages 1994 to 2002," said co-owner Ted Hall.
"We are committed to producing the finest wines, olive oils, and other healthful, flavorful foods for our customers' tables and to finding ways to directly reach our customers wherever we can. We are determined to turn the fire into an opportunity. Keep watching us closely!" added Hall.
The mailing list for LMR Wine, Food, and Farm Adventures can be joined by writing or calling the winery at P.O. Box 477, Rutherford, California, 94573 (Toll-free: 877-627-2645), or through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. The eCatalog can be viewed through the bottom navigation on every page of LMR's website.

Long Meadow Ranch is an innovative organic farming operation - and purveyor of fine food - located high above the Napa Valley on the picturesque slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains where it produces extraordinary wines, extra virgin olive oil, grass-fed beef, eggs, and heirloom fruits and vegetables for Napa Valley's finest restaurants. Long Meadow Ranch produces ultra premium wines and extra virgin olive oils, under the Long Meadow Ranch Winery, Ranch House Red, Prato Lungo, and Napa Valley Select labels. Beyond the Napa Valley, America's top chefs have regularly featured Long Meadow Ranch wines and olive oils.
Long Meadow Ranch has been known as such since 1872 when it was established as an original "patent grant" ranch signed over by President Ulysses S. Grant. Having been home to a variety of uses during its long history, Long Meadow Ranch continues to grow and prosper through Ted, Laddie and Christopher Hall's stewardship.
The Halls continue to restore and preserve Napa Valley's oldest olive groves, as well as add new plantings of olive trees and vineyards. They have also brought cattle, poultry, and vegetables back into commercial production. Appaloosa horse breeding, along with an extensive composting operation, round out the integrated farming activities at the Ranch.
"Excellence through Responsible Farming" is the motto of Long Meadow Ranch, bolstered by the belief that world-class products can be produced using sustainable, organic farming methods. Long Meadow Ranch does not use herbicides or pesticides and its products are organically grown and certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers.
