Born in Colusa, a small farming community in the Sacramento Valley, Devonna graduated from California State University, Chico with a degree in business administration and accounting. After marrying high school sweetheart, Andy Smith, Devonna moved to Napa where she joined the noted wine industry accounting firm, Motto, Kryla and Fisher. After the birth of her first son, Devonna opened her own accounting practice to allow more flexibility in her schedule.
In 2004, Andy and Devonna started their own development and construction company, Meritage Builders, Inc., with Bud Waddell. While continuing to work in accounting for various clients mainly in the wine and construction industries, a “very busy” Devonna became a licensed real estate broker to facilitate selling homes in Meritage’s development projects.
In their “spare time” Andy and Devonna are involved in sports, 4-H, and school activities where they volunteer many hours to support the interests of their sons, David and AJ. While Hawaii is the favorite family travel destination, Andy and Devonna also love to go to Las Vegas. When not watching Napa High Football on Friday nights, Devonna and Andy can be found enjoying backyard dinners with friends aspiring to challenge Napa's best chefs.
Devonna says about Long Meadow Ranch, “It’s very appropriate I have found a place that encompasses many of my favorite things in life: good food, good wine – but most importantly – good friends. It would be perfect if I could just get Ted to start producing sparkling wine!”
