Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Nestled behind our winery at 900 feet elevation, we have re-created a two-acre vineyard on one of the original pre-prohibition sites. Planted to Merlot in 1998, the vines are nearing maturity. We generally pick this vineyard in two to four blocks and ferment as small lots.
Production Notes
90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc
Winemaker Notes
”The warmth and depth of this right-bank-styled Merlot draws you into layers of black cherry, mineral/flint and green peppercorn even before you take that first sip. Effusive and ever-changing, this wine reveals itself patiently and persistently in a pleasant, old world meets new world, way.
The range of red fruits runs from dried plum to black cherry, but is well complemented by sweet, integrated oak, subtle smoky notes and minerality. The texture is supple, coating and round. Sweet extraction, LMR terroir and complexity from a dash of Cabernet Franc make this Merlot one that draws you back at every turn.” - Ashley Heisey
