Fresh Bing cherry, blackberry, and pomegranate seed delight on entry. The palate unfolds with more subtle earthy and savory notes of graphite, fennel seed and vanilla bean. Texturally, the natural mountain fruit acidity layers with the persistent but soft tannins and just the right amount of oak for a lasting and memorable finish. – Justin Carr

GROWING SEASON

We are optimistic about the overall vintage quality. The year began with abundant rainfall. Spring weather was mild, resulting in extended flowering in some areas with little shatter. Vines were vigorous thanks to the winter rains. A freak hail storm passed through quickly in June causing isolated damage. Three heat events, including one over Labor Day weekend, kicked harvest into high gear, dehydrating some grapes by early September. Cool weather arrived immediately afterward, allowing sugar levels to return to normal. Most late-ripening red grapes continued to hang on the vine and were picked over the next few weeks. By October 8th (when the wine country wildfires started) 90 percent of the 2017 grape tonnage was in and by the end of October, harvest was complete. No matter the circumstances, we remain committed to upholding our region’s reputation for making some of the world’s finest wines and will do everything possible to ensure only the highest quality
