Wine Profile

Tasting Notes “The late cool growing season contributed to create wines of extraordinary complexity and vibrancy. The nose exudes layers of fruit, floral aromas and a hint of verbena. Stone fruits, grapefruit and tropical notes enhance the often present green melon, cut grass and honeysuckle. The structure and softness on the palate promote the expansion and persistence of all these fresh flavors. This vintage finishes with mouthwatering crispness and pure fruit. As a result, it pairs beautifully with a wide range of vibrant dishes, but also offers balance and completeness when sipped on its own. Enjoy while young.” - Ashley Heisey
Ratings "One of my newest favorites is the Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, made exclusively from grapes grown in one of Rutherford’s best white wine sites, the San Mateo Vineyard. The 2010 vintage - only the sixth from this impressive site - is their best effort yet. This is a vibrant, buoyant wine that literally floats out the glass. The nose is loaded with white flowers, peach blossom, ripe mango and a faint trace of wildflower honey. The flavors are bright and crisp but with an uncommon depth and texture, including candied lime zest, peach blossom, passion fruit and ripened honeydew." - Kevin Boyer, Wine Curator & Director, Lot18
Awards 90pts Wine Enthusiast, Editors Choice. "There's no oak on this wine, which let's the fruit star. It does a bravura performance, with turns of pineapples, limes, gooseberries and tart mandarin oranges that finish in a swirl of spices. Acidity adds a brilliant zestiness, and even though the wine is only 12.9 alc by volume, this wine is totally dry." - Steve Heimhoff (Aug 2011)

90pts The Tasting Panel, Publishers Pick. "Love the die-cut label, but the liquid is even more fun. Plenty of sunny limes and tart kiwi refreshment, balanced with crisp acidity." - Meridith May (May 2011)

Vineyard Notes Besides being one of the coldest seasons in the past thirty years, 2010 was also one of the most challenging. Starting with late spring rains, a cool and humid summer and then record heat from late August into September, 2010 ended with heavy rains in October. Thanks to our careful management, all our vines made it through the summer untouched by mildew and without withering. All of our grapes were harvested before the rains. 2010 is definitely more a Bordeaux vintage than a typical Napa Valley vintage, but the results are excellent with very aromatic whites and fully structured reds.
Food Pairing Notes Classic pairings include oysters, crab cakes, grilled salmon, goat cheese, bruschetta, and margarita pizza
