Reservations

The farmers’ market is where it all began for the Halls with their first garden at the Long Meadow Ranch Mountain Estate. We are still at the market each week selling our organic produce, beef, honey and more.

MAY – OCTOBER: FRIDAYS 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Located at the St Helena Farmers’ Market in Crane Park.

SPRING

CARROTS

Varietals: Parisian, Scarlet Nantes, Sugar Snax, Red Rainbow, White Satin
Planted: Year-round
Harvested: September to June

Carrots thrive in spring and fall. We are experimenting with heat tolerant varieties to extend our growing season into the summer.

HERBS

Varietals: Cilantro, Mint, Oregano, Tarragon, Basil, Rosemary, Bronze Fennel, Chives, Parsley, Pineapple Sage, Common Sage, Turmeric, Savory, Dill
Planted: Year-round
Harvest: Year-round

We grow 4 types of mint: Chocolate, Spearmint, Kentucky Colonel, and Julep.

ARTICHOKES

Varietals: Green Globe, Purple Globe, Roman
Planted: February to April
Harvested: peak season is April to July, but is almost year-round

Artichokes prefer cool climates, so ours are grown at Tomales Station. The gorgeous flowers are a favorite at the farmer’s market.

SUMMER

CHERRY TOMATOES

Varietals: Blush, Matt’s Wild Cherry, Yellow Pear, Sungold, Sweet 100
Planted in the Greenhouse: February and March
Transplanted to the Field: April and May
Harvested: June to November

Cherry tomatoes can be extremely prolific with some varietals producing up to 100 fruits on a single branch.

FIGS & STRAWBERRIES

Figs Varietals: Adriatic, Panache (or Tiger), Black Mission, Brown Turkey
Planted: Perennials
Harvested: June to November

The Black Mission fig tree at our Rutherford Estate is over 100 years old.

Strawberry Varietals: Albion, Seascape
Planted: Perennials
Harvested: March to November

We propagate our own new plants in the greenhouse by cutting the runners off of our existing plants.

PEACHES

Varietals: Artic Supreme, July Elberta
Planted: Perennials
Harvested: July to September

Peaches are very susceptible to frost and rain during flowering. If you get a big wind or rain at bloom, you can lose an entire crop. Peach trees must be thinned with good fruit set. Otherwise, the fruit doesn’t mature and the branches of the tree can break under the weight of the fruit.

FALL

GARLIC & SHALLOTS

Garlic Varietals: Red Ichilium, Silver Skin, California Early
Planted: October and November
Harvested: May and June

Garlic can hold in good storage conditions for more than 6 months.

Shallots Varietals: Dutch Red
Planted: October and November
Harvested: May and June Shallots can hold in good storage conditions for more than 6 months.

PEARS

Varietals: Asian, Boche
Planted: Perennial
Harvested: July to September

One bountiful pear tree on the Mayacamas Estate bears a generous 400 pounds of luscious fruit for you to enjoy.

ZUCCHINI

Varietals: Ronde De Nice, Dunja, Yellow Straight Neck, Yellow Curved Neck, Costa Romanesco
Planted: March to July
Harvested: May through November Zucchini is a very fast growing plant and can mature for first harvest within 5 weeks of planting.

WINTER

KALE

Varietals: Lacinato, Red Russian, White Russian, Toscano
Planted: September through February
Harvested: October to May

Kale is a hearty plant against frost but it does not like heat.

RADISHES

Varietals: Cherry Belle, Watermelon, Pink Beauty, Giant German
Planted: September to May
Harvest: September to June

Radishes are very fast to mature and some varietals can be harvested as soon as 25 days after planting.

Eggs
EGGS

Varietals: Americauna, Australorp, Bard Rock, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Blue Andalusian, Buckeye, Cuckoo Maran
Harvest: Year-round

When in full production, our flock of 400 chickens lays over 250 eggs per day.
