2021 PINOT NOIR, PERRYGULCH
ANDERSON VALLEY ESTATE
“The color is a medium intensity pure ruby red. The nose is intense and earthy, blending minerality, black fruit, and intense rose petal aromas. The aromas are reminiscent of the delicious blackberries growing on the property. The palate is dense, rich and smooth, with great scale from top to bottom and a terrific length. Nothing is forced here. Intricate mesh of earthy, spicy flavors that open up to darker fruit and a bright rose finish that is long and lingers forever. 2021 will be a vintage of pleasure and for the ages.” – Stéphane Vivier
95 Points, James Suckling
“Sliced oranges and peaches with raspberries and hints of tar. Savory and medium-bodied with a rounded texture and a juicy finish. Fine tannins and notes of hibiscus at the end. Shows tension and focus.” – James Suckling
94 Points, Wine Enthusiast
“This selection is bright and robust, with aromas of dried cherry, lingonberry, star anise, chicory and potpourri on the nose. Flavors on the palate are youthful raspberry, red plum, cranberry, black tea, dried mushroom and savory herbs, with acidity throughout the finish. Decant or hold until 2034. Pair with roasted Cornish hens, polenta and wild mushrooms.” — T.P.

GROWING SEASON
2021 will be remembered as an extreme vintage and certainly considered as one of the best of recent memories. Pronounced drought conditions resulting in lower yields were combined with mild Spring and Summer conditions. It allowed the fruit to ripened slowly and the dry weather provided unique concentration of aromas and flavors, all the while keeping the acidities high. Perfectly balanced the wines are a true glimpse of this unique vintage, concentrated and lively at the same time.
ANDERSON VALLEY ESTATE – SOIL SERIES
We grow the fruit for Long Meadow Ranch Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays among the rolling, mineral-rich slopes of Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley. Nestled against the banks of the Navarro River and dense groves of Coast Redwoods, our vineyards benefit from some of California’s best conditions for Burgundian grape varieties. But perhaps our favorite aspect of our vineyards is the diversity in soil types, and the opportunity it has presented to showcase many different faces of these wines we love.
FELIZ, CHARDONNAY
PINOLE, PINOT NOIR
PERRYGULCH, PINOT NOIR
Perrygulch loam is the most dramatically sloped region of our Anderson Valley vineyards. The clay volumes are highest here, while the pH is the lowest. The vigor is also higher which tends to produce a higher concentration of flavors in the wines. This soil tends to produce powerful, concentrated, and structured wines.
