2020 BRUT ROSÉ

ANDERSON VALLEY ESTATE

“This 2020 Brut Rosé is an absolute delight. Its nose reveals the elegance of its Pinot Noir heritage, with delicate violet aromas interwoven with hints of grapefruit. Mineral notes of oyster shell complement a subtle layer of cherry and just-ripe plum. On the palate, it is smooth and round, with each sip unveiling more depth and complexity. The finish offers a lasting promise, suggesting this wine will continue to develop beautifully over time, making it perfect for both immediate or future enjoyment.” – Stéphane Vivier

92 Points, James Suckling

“Made from 75% chardonnay with a touch of still red wine to achieve the pale salmon color. Aromas of orange blossom, grapefruit, peach and a nice yeasty undertone. The palate is bright and focused with a fine line of acidity and a textural, rounded finish. Bright, fresh and focused. Drink or hold.” – Ryan Montgomery

93 Points, Decanter

“The Brut Rosé is 100% Pinot Noir (Roederer Clone 32), dosed at 5 g/l and aged 36 months sur lie with no malolactic fermentation. It opens with an inviting nose of stone fruit, crunchy plum, white plum, stony minerality and a gentle white-floral character. The mousse is wonderfully smooth and luscious, the palate building in richness around that stone-fruit core, accented by elegant baking-spice notes and finishing with a long, saline-acid lift.” – Jonathan Cristaldi

91 Points, James Suckling

Peaches and hints of cotton candy with some concrete on the nose. Medium-to-full-bodied, deep and layered with a strawberry and pie crust aftertaste. 36 months on the lees. 5 g/l dosage. Drink now.” – James Suckling

GROWING SEASON

A dry winter with half of the region’s typical rainfall was followed by a mild and warmer than usual summer. The season was long with bud break and flowering events happening a week earlier than 2019, yet harvest starting a week later than average for our sparkling and Rosé grapes. The cold nights and intense marine layers resulted in extremely slow ripening which created a beautiful layering of flavors and complexity for all of our wines.
